HRAKOVE

From February 25 to September 7, 2022, Hrakovo was under the control of the Russian occupiers until it was liberated by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The village was heavily damaged as it was on the front line under constant shelling for 195 days, and the consequences are still visible 19 months after de-occupation. The school, the village council building, shops, private and apartment buildings were all destroyed or damaged. In one of the basements of an apartment building, the Russians set up a torture chamber. During the occupation, less than 40 people remained in the village, but people are gradually returning home, and now 188 residents live in Hrakovo.
